  5. Even scarier than Mr. Truman's death was the one of the geologist who died. He had a camera set up to take photos at certain intervals of time in order to document the eruption from what he thought was a safe distance. He didn't anticipate the volcano erupting from the side, instead of the top. He died in the blast, the camera kept taking photos of the massive plume coming closer, and closer, and closer....

  6. Smoking? I was a kid when Mt. St. Helens blew its top. They knew there was a huge problem because of ground swelling, but they didn't have enough time to evacuate, and like that one guy, many simply refused to. I often wonder if he was simply stupid and stubborn, or if he genuinely wanted to die. I can't imagine it was a pleasant way to go, no matter how quickly his house was covered.
