  2. Lolyup. My dad bitched endlessly when I moved to the UK and had to give up my cat to live with my parents. But my mom catches him snuggling with the kitty all the time, while he tries to deny it 😂

  4. Caiques like this can bond with multiple people, especially if they're kept as a solo bird. I don't recommend it personally, though. I think rambunctious species like caiques and lorikeets should be kept in pairs, so they can keep each other occupied, but it is doable if you give them enough attention. Which in a cacique's case is like, every waking moment 😂

  5. There's a neighbor five houses down who keeps cats and dogs in horrible conditions, he doesn't spay or neuter any of them and so a bunch of cats keep coming from his house. One of them had kittens under our house and we were able to socialize them, unfortunately Mama was too feral and we ended up doing TNR on her after months of trying to tame her indoors. She seems happy and we see her now and again, at least she won't add any more kittens who will suffer. The two kittens were adopted together and are doing great!

I know, but the photos only show her as definitively being connected to Phoenix, when they round up wild horses they just put them all in one pen, so we have no idea if any of the others in the first photo are his too, and even if they were, there's not enough shown of them to make a positive ID.

  13. I'll never understand why so many people hate pigeons so much. They're lovely birds, very intelligent, and it's OUR fault they exist at all. There's no such thing as a wild native city pigeon. Every last one is descended from domestic pigeons.

They're known for being clowns of the bird world, they're so happy and funny and energetic! You will always find a caique doing something that makes you laugh. Such great birds. 💜

  37. Hi, zoologist and former avian vet student here. Unfortunately, those are REALLY hard to do for waterfowl. They have soft bills, not hard beaks. Plus you need a significant portion of the upper bill to attach the prosthetic onto, which Beaker no longer has.

  60.  @Wicked_Pixey  I was really shocked at that, the moment I saw her it was clear she had PBFD, and she's spouting off about stress, yet never thought to get her checked out by a vet when she first got them? Any time I rescue an animal from a bad home, the first thing I do is get them checked out by a vet. Poor Coco AND Blue are both going to have a shortened life now, simply because of this woman's incompetence.

  67. I think he was just upset at how dirty this guy's car was. 😂 I'm so happy he decided to keep the kitty though! Ferals take a long time to tame, but once you do, they become the sweetest cats ever. They are eternally grateful for saving them from being cold and hungry.

  72. I'm a zoologist, and there's an adorable fish fact that few know about: fish sing like birds do, and for the same reasons. If you put a hydrophone in the water early in the morning, you'll hear a symphony of clicks and hums from all the fish, communicating to one another. They are far more advanced and social than most people are willing to give them credit for.

  75. Umm....dude, I'm not sure how to tell you this, but that's not a domestic cat. I'm a zoologist, and I recognized her as Felis Silvestri. They live in Bosnia in mountainous ranges, as well as all over parts of Europe and Africa. They have an orange patch on the nose that matches hers. This is the cat our pet cats were domesticated from, so many people may not know the difference. But, yeah, I'm pretty sure you stumbled upon an orphaned kitten of that species and took her out of the environment. 😂 Ended well for both of you, but yeah, Nala is a wild cat!

PFAS, or forever chemicals, are so prevalent in the ocean that female orca whales are doomed to lose their first baby to poisoning. PFASs are oil soluble, so they stay in the body in the fat stores. The only way to lower the toxin load is through creating milk, which for whales is very rich and high in fat. And where do the toxins go? Right to the baby. And it can take anywhere from 1-5 babies lost before the mother's toxin load lowers enough to where the baby can survive it.
