  7. The worst burn I ever had was an oil splatter that got the front of my chest, arms, and stomach. The pain was unbearable and wearing clothes was NOT an option until the blisters went away, which took a couple weeks. I can't even imagine the unbearable pain of being burned this badly, over your entire body...and I don't want to.

  30. It's not a surprise to me at all. When I was that age, the other kids at my school bullied me in horrific ways. They tried many times to kill me, by shoving me into traffic, down flights of stairs, even ganged up on me and tried to stab me with a compass. You know, those sharp things you attach a pencil to for drawing circles? I'm 39 now and I still have the physical scars from that attack. Never, ever underestimate the abject cruelty of children.

They cut them from the pan right in front of me, and everyone else ate the same brownies I did. Before the incident, I had noticed that when friends of mine smoked around me, my muscles would twitch uncontrollably, it was so weird. I ate an edible and began having violent seizures, my whole body was convulsing and I had no motor control but I was conscious the entire time. Not even my pupils were responsive when my ex FINALLY got his shi† together and took me to the hospital, so they gave me a lumbar puncture, fully conscious and aware, cuz they thought I was unconscious. I'd stopped breathing by the time they put me under, so I remember my last thought being "this is it, I'm not going to wake up". Thankfully, they intubated me (despite my arsehole ex trying to talk them out of it for some insane reason) and I woke up 12 hours later once the marijuana had finally left my system. I've never met anyone else who had that reaction to pot before, but yeah, kinda sucks that I can't use it 😅

I was bullied mercilessly as a kid and when I finally found a "friend", she would do horrid things to me but I would always be eager to hang out with her again, cuz I was that desperate for human interaction. And sadly, even though all 50 states have safe haven laws, they're not at all advertised and so few people know about them. This is especially true in red states where termination is banned (and even before it was, they did their damnedest to make it as difficult as possible). However, that obviously doesn't excuse attempted unalive. This is the internet age, she had nine months to try and see if there was a way to get rid of her unwanted baby and likely would have found out about the safe haven laws. Many allow the child to be up to six months or even older at the time of relinquish.

Late teens/early 20-somethings often go through a phase where they believe bizarre stuff like this; that's when most girls go through their witchy phase, when "soulbinders" rear their greasy faces, think they have powers, etc. A friend of mine thought the Shin Megami Tensei universe was real and "worshipped" assorted girls he was convinced were reincarnated deities that lay dormant inside them, Persona style. It's pretty sad.

We offer NO viable mental health services, our healthcare system is a joke, and therapy isn't available for anyone without paying a substantial amount out of pocket, let alone any other type of treatment. If he'd been offered help long ago, none of this would have happened. But here in the US, people don't care about prevention, only retribution. It's like americans are perfectly ok with the loss of human life, so long as they get to satisfy their vengeance boners by witnessing the perpetrator get punished for it.

  167. What short sentence? The possibility of parole does not mean the inevitability of parole. Just look at Diane Downs, Judith Neeley, or Mark David Chapman. They have all been consistently denied parole every time, and remain in prison. According to the DOJ, less than 6% of convicted murderers are ever granted parole.

  168. I don't understand why everyone in here is acting like Toni will be waltzing out of prison in just a few years. That's not how it works. Her sentence means that's the minimum amount of years she must serve until her first parole hearing, keyword here being minimum. That number may be increased. As for being paroled, it is statistically almost a guarantee her first parole hearing will be denied, and it is extremely likely that all subsequent hearings will continue to be denied, for the rest of her life.
