I mean, on one hand, I get it. 18 is still very much a child, no matter what the law says. Have you MET an 18 year old? They have no clue. Having a baby is scary, and can ruin a kid's life. And sadly, even though all 50 states have safe haven laws, they're not at all advertised and so few people know about them. This is especially true in red states where termination is banned (and even before it was, they did their damnedest to make it as difficult as possible). However, that obviously doesn't excuse attempted unalive. This is the internet age, she had nine months to try and see if there was a way to get rid of her unwanted baby and likely would have found out about the safe haven laws. Many allow the child to be up to six months or even older at the time of relinquish.

@jaredbrown3726 Lol yeah no, Andrew Tate fanboy. He had to fight for custody because he's just a kid and they had to prove that he wasn't in on it. Dads aren't "second class citizens" in custody court, it's just that you dudes rarely step up when it comes to parenting and so the kids typically want to stay with the mom, who not only has been the one primarily raising them, but also treats them with more warmth and comfort compared to men.

It needs to be advertised on every single US website and TV station that scared teen moms can take an unwanted baby to a hospital or fire station and leave it there, no questions asked.
