Just wanna say, I LOVE the domino motif. Visually stunning and an excellent follow-through from the pendulum mentioned in the last video.

25:00 As a scientist myself, this makes me angry. The entire point of science is that discoveries like this must be INDEPENDENTLY REPRODUCIBLE. So much for peer review. 🙄

@definitelynotofficial7350 Eh. They were both unvaccinated, they're Darwin Awards at best.
94
@meahoola Elvis ABSOLUTELY was a predator. It's kinda hilarious to see you defend him when yeah, he's definitely on par with some of those awful people.
59
Given where she lives and how women are treated there, I'm betting no. No, she's not ok.
49
@iau This. Hwang ruined multiple women by lording his power over them and demanding they give him their eggs. It's disgusting.
43
@lizardirl9488 Lol I get why, many of their nouns are compounded like that. "Krankenhaus", sickhouse, aka hospital. "Nacktschneke", nakedsnail, aka slug. And on and on and on.
37
Same. I donated because I don't ever want to have kids, so I decided if I wasn't using them, I wanted to help other people have families. And my egg was successfully implanted and the recipients had a healthy baby girl! That's all I know, obviously they're very confidential about all of this, but the mom wrote me a letter to inform me. But the whole ordeal was very painful, and extremely invasive. I had to have so many injections, internal ultrasounds, I got poked, prodded, and examined constantly. Knowing these women had to go through all that against their will makes me feel physically sick.
33
Interesting observation. Thanks for that! It's something you know is a thing, I mean it obviously has to be, but it never really crosses your mind until it's relevant like it is here
18
And nothing of value was lost.
10
@astererratum6546 Lol as someone who took four years of Japanese in college, I definitely can't write beyond a first grade level.
10
As someone who is a woman in STEM, this anti-woman attitude has never changed. It's... disheartening.
9
@Manowarmx3 Let me guess, you think regulations should be done away with cuz corporations will automatically do the right thing out of the goodness of their heart.
9
This is amazing. I'm so glad I found your channel! You're gonna blow up, I can feel it. You're just too good.
8
That music doesn't belong to Summoning Salt, though. It's a stock music clip.
8
I'm just left repulsed by Korean culture for blatantly wanting to trample women's rights AND human rights to protect a fraudster. For no reason other than jingoism.
6
I'm not to that point yet, I can't wait!
6
I’m a zoologist, and I agree!
6
I'm a biologist. The ice diet is one of those things that makes sense to a layperson, but to people like me it's facepalm-worthy. I guess cold fusion was the same way. ....Ok no I'm not over this, I gotta vent. They published a PAPER on it! It was in the Annals of Internal Medicine, one of the most esteemed medical journals in the world! How did they not catch this?! You can't just eat ice and expect to lower your body temperature for weight loss, if it was THAT easy to significantly lower our body temperature or go into caloric deficit we wouldn't be able to maintain homeostasis or hold onto enough calories to survive anything other than ideal conditions. To make any difference you'd have to eat so much ice you'd go into hyponatremia, and even then you wouldn't lose weight because your metabolism would slow significantly to conserve energy! I just...I think I need to lie down.
5
@CruelestChris Tell that to the serfs.
5
I hate that the bad guy got away scot free. I hate it.
5
I’m so sorry. I’ve had mono that lasted a month, so I empathize. I hope you make a full recovery soon!
4
@vicwaju 1. Yes you can. 2. Is being remembered, potentially as a huge folly like Pons and Fleischman were, worth sacrificing your one finite life, and your relationship with your loved ones? I don't think it is.
4
Reagan was an evil man, and he has done more damage to this country than can possibly be measured.
3
I'm a zoologist, but it's for that reason I also have an extensive understanding of ecology. And, we're not doing so well, guys. The earth is teetering on the edge of the abyss, and humans are trying to push it over. We will not be able to come back from this. Seeing videos like this just makes me upset. People are happy to doom the earth, the only known life sustaining planet in the universe, just for something as meaningless as money. Yes, I know this wasn't legit, but we could end our reliance on fossil fuel if we wanted. But it's never going to happen.
2
@sarratonin That's what happens when a scientist tries to move out of their wheelhouse. It'd be like me, a biologist, trying to publish a paper on aerospace engineering.
2
@BobbyBroccoli Your titles are fine, don't listen to that guy. I just watched part 3 on Nebula, it was excellent but bittersweet. We all knew how the story would end, but it's still sad to see all the same.
2
Like someone else beautifully said, "the only people who will remember your long hours at work are your family".
2
@turbovirgin_ How is the act of women being coerced, violated, and harvested not horrific to you? Geez, and I thought I was cynical.
2
@theguy9208 Username checks out. Only a dude would say something this messed up about women being violated. Hwang coercing his female employees to undergo an invasive procedure to harvest their eggs under threat of career ruin, is horrific. Likewise, having your eggs harvested for the purpose of IVF, only to learn that the doctor you trusted never had any intention of implanting your embryos and they were all used up for stem cell research without your knowledge or consent, is appalling. If you don't understand why that is, then that speaks to your character as much as it does Hwang's.
2
@alexwyatt2911 You're not wrong. I'm a woman, and I was chased out of the video games industry during gamergate. No one understands the awful treatment of american women in the workplace like I do. But it's so much worse over in Asia. Korea is especially bad, I have worked for two Korean companies and three Japanese ones, and those experiences were by far the worst of my career.
2
1:08:15 Well, that's what you can expect from conservative politicians.
2
1:00 This conkwocket set us back by so many years, for absolutely no reason. Such a hypocrite too, considering what happened one month later. 45:40 Case in point. God, I'm so angry right now.
2
Welcome to Korea.
2
Of course he doesn't. Him and his entire party don't understand science whatsoever, and they don't care.
1
But you can't, because republicans hate science.
1
I'm glad I watched it on Nebula, and now I'm gonna watch it again.
1
@madeliner1682 I love that our species has such odd rituals that we make noise to show our approval, and that approval comes out as "woo"
1
@probablynotmyname8521 Yeah, but so does Microsoft. But I assure you, there are also plenty who are utterly inept but they get away with it because of corporate bloat and nepotism. The company is so big that it just throws money at departments with no oversight. I worked on a new database for Xbox LIVE for three years. My job was overseeing the migration of user data from the old system to the new one. The number of people who refused to get their tasks done each day was infuriating. Work was slow. Then one day the company fired us all, saying they weren't going to use the new database, they'd just try to shore up the old one. Three years and millions of dollars, thrown out like it was nothing. And sure enough, that year Xbox LIVE crashed.
1
Hwang was an absolute demon.
1
Bush is such an embarrassment to the american people. Embryos aren’t conscious, it’s a blastocyst, just a ball of cells. It’s as illogical to say it’s a human being as much as it is to say a pint of blood is. Both human cells, but not even an irrational person like the extreme far right would say a bag of blood should be granted human rights.
1
@Dante-ki4ol Mind if I ask you to explain? How has journalism failed this week?
1
@evanthesquirrel Really? Not for me, the sound kept cutting out when my phone screen went dark.
1
@DNVPIVIN I disagree, I like the title just fine.
1
@steffenbakken4531 And yet, seasoned researchers do it all the time, and then blame said first year students when caught. Like Suman L. Jain most recently.
1
What song is playing at 12:05? Best I can guess is a new age cover of "we didn't start the fire", but I can't find anything with those lyrics.
1
@BobbyBroccoli For a parody song, it sounds really good. I'll take it that means there's no full version, then?
1
I feel like ditto would have been a better analogy.
1
Just another reminder of how awful the Bush family is, and politicians are in general.
1
It's Korea, they're incredibly backwards when it comes to their treatment of women. And yes, they're extremely corrupt. I've worked for several Korean companies throughout my life, and both were some of the worst experiences of my entire career. Nothing they did was above board. They broke so many labor laws, and went out of their way to not only fire but sabotage the career of anyone who tried to report them. If it was just one or two I might call it a coincidence, but it was all of them.
1
Many reasons. Unfortunately, science has become so corrupt that you cannot even hope to get grant money or get anyone to look at your resume unless you have published something big. The governing bodies that decide these things only care about how much they can profit off of your research. It's created an incentive for people to doctor their data, ignore results that don't support their claim, and fosters an environment where everyone's trying to step on each other to further their own careers.
1
@Jaydee8652 And that's the problem with most science these days. Nepotism and politics are the status quo, not the science itself. Getting any journal to retract a fraudulent paper is an uphill battle because they place their reputation over their integrity. For example, there has been a recent scandal where a whole host of fraudulent papers from India have been uncovered to have fabricated data, it's like the Frederick Shön scandal × 100. Yet all of the reputable journals that published those papers still have them up, they have not retracted a single one despite numerous calls to do so and even the researchers themselves admitting they're bunk (despite of course blaming everyone except themselves). Don't trust any research from India, at least not for the time being.
1
@MirzaAhmed89 That's why. It's churned out, low effort content, perfect for the lowest common denominator to make themselves feel like they're smart even though they have room temperature IQs.
1
@PointsofData I hate to tell this to you but if you think it's "good content", that's a bit of a self report.
1
Welcome to Asia.
1
That's called "trickle truthing", and it's commonly seen in malignant narcissists like Hwang.
1
What he did to those women is absolutely disgusting. I'm enraged and sickened, but sadly unsurprised that they were shamed and silenced by their own countrymen for speaking out against the man who violated them.
1
@elilass8410 Yes, but the women who were forced to risk their reproductive health are truly human.
1
Why do they look so creepy?
1
Are you mormon?
1
I know. As a biologist I think about this often, and I can't help but feel angry. The right has held us back for so long, and I fear they will do far worse in years to come. The world they want is terrifying to me, as a scientist as well as a woman.
1
Just think, how far could we have advanced by now if not for republicans? We'd have clean energy, cures for painful, debilitating diseases, but no. I'll never understand why the scientifically illiterate are allowed to make unilateral decisions on science.
1
@lelagrangeeffectphysics4120 No. It really isn't. Hwang walked away with no legal consequences, is still a beloved figure in Korea, and he continued on with his career like nothing ever happened. He literally got away with everything.
