  1. I don't get how a gunshot to the head is considered "Cruel and unusual". It's good enough for cows. It's instant. I'd prefer that than gasping for breath and being chemically paralyzed for two entire hours.

  4. Manuel Rivera I know, I thought the same way for a long time, but we're supposed to be better than that. And life imprisonment can be rough, I watched a documentary about child rapists that were held for life in a facility that will never see the light of day, and each and every one of them griped nonstop about how unfair it was, how much they hated it there, and they had tons of modern conveniences like television and game nights. Even some prisons don't offer that kind of swank.

  6. triburst I think that's why we have shooting galleries, the idea is that the armed men can't know which of their bullets was the fatal one, so it creates a sort of emotional buffer to ease the guilt of taking human life.

  8. ***** Oh undoubtedly, I wish we'd abolish it. This discussion is more hypothetical than anything else, to poke fun at the whole "cruel and unusual" thing. But I still think a bullet to the brain would be better than a guillotine. We've proven that beheading someone leaves the brain intact, rendering the victim conscious for several moments. Imagine opening your eyes to see that you're rolling in a basket and you can't feel your body. Holy cow.
