  1. This is one instance where I agree with your point, but not your argument, Kyle. I hardly think "depression" is cause for a reduced sentence. Being really, really sad isn't an excuse for murdering someone. Mental retardation, something you are born with, could be, arguably. Schizophrenia...ehhhh, that's pretty grey. If you can prove they willfully went off their meds and then went nuts and attacked someone, then they're still 100% at fault. EDIT: Yes, I  know that clinical depression is different than "being sad". I was using hyperbole, and for that I apologize. But my original point still stands, depression is simply not an excuse nor is it a valid defense for murder. Certainly not one that would allow the perp to go off scot-free.

  2. Gus Kraus I'm well aware of that, bad choice of words. I apologize. I was diagnosed with clinical depression in high school. Know what I didn't do? Go out and murder people. Having depression doesn't magically make your sense of right and wrong disappear.
