And I don't think that Republican talk about the border is even about solving the "border problem" - it's about catering to and getting votes from white MAGA voters who don't like non-white people coming into the country and for that matter don't like non-white people at all.

One thing that should be added is that a big part of the strategy to ensure Ukrainian victory isn't about about military actions in the field but rather is about international sanctions against Russia to reduce its military and financial capacity to continue the war and that is not controlled by Ukraine but rather by western politicians and officials such as those in the United States and those western politicians and officials have failed badly in the implementation of those sanctions against Russia. If western countries had done a better job of enforcing sanctions against Russia then Russia would have been making less money from fossil fuels exports and would have been getting fewer critical military components and oil well components from western suppliers, either directly or indirectly, and Russia would thus have been struggling much more in trying to carry on the war. In fact one has to conclude that Ukraine has done a much better job with its military strategy than the United States has done with its sanctions strategy so if Mike Johnson thinks that there is a problem with strategy then he should take a long, hard look in the mirror.
