@AFT_05G I believe that Russia has about 145 million people and although I have often seen the American population total listed at 333 million or so did just see an estimate of 340 million or about 200 million people more than has Russia - in other words much more than double. Quite a change from the 1970s when the United States was faced with a Soviet adversary which had far more people than did the United States. And I suspect that Russia now has a very aging population given the low birth rates for decades and a lack of immigration.

@hemendraravi4787 you have a point but I think the commentator was not suggesting that analysts use only equipment losses and nothing else to estimate casualties. Rather I believe they were saying that looking at equipment losses is one more source of data that can be added to other data to get a better and fuller picture of how many Russian casualties there have been. It's also likely true that most American tanks provide better protection to their crews than do most Russian tanks, especially very old Soviet/Russian tanks.
