  1. @Arfur Fuxxakes The lack of medical understanding was simply a lack of knowledge, and that lack in knowledge had nothing to do with religion. We're standing on the shoulder of giants. It like when modern people laugh at our ancestors for believing in the geocentric model of the universe, and yet without the detailed work put in by Copernicus and Kepler, we too would believe the sun revolved around the earth, because simple observation demonstates it. And let's not forget that Copernicus and Kepler were both devote Catholics, but let's not let facts get in the way of a good anti-theist rant.
