"if sex between two animals of the same sex was not intended by nature, it would not occur."
That's like saying cancer is intended to occure in humans because it sometimes happens, and yet the intended state of a human is perfect health, evidenced by the fact that the majority are, or is cancer a way of decreasing population in your view? And sex-same animals don't have sex, they perform sodomy in the rectum, which is not intended to be done, evidenced by the damage it can cause and it being incapable of bringing forth conception.
"One theory as to why same-sex sexual activity occurs in nature is because nature requires a population control so as to avoid too much competition in nature."
If that's the case then we wouldn't expect to see cases of homosexuality in sparsely populated peoples, and yet we do. And we would also expect them not to have the ability to produce semen, and yet they do.
"marriage isn't objectively important, as plenty of people have good relationships without being married"
This is a consequence of living in the Western world alongside a majority which do in fact get married and provide stability for children, but this bubble is soon about to burst.
