@imakemyownluck4837 I like the German language, that would hardly be a punishment. And no one was forced to speak English, they were taught English if they wanted too, which helped many become great scholars and politicians in their own land. The English language has become a universial language which makes it's far easier for foriegners to assimlate into the western world when they choose to move there.

Overall the British empire brought millions out of ignorance, poverty and being treated far worse by local warlords. The Moari in New Zealand, for instance, were cannibals.
