It also means man has free-will or volition, i.e: capable of choosing and doing good or evil. Before the fall man had no free will, he could only do good because he was connected with God, the ultimate good. The whole purpose of religion is to reunite man with God (the ultimate good), if everyone did this there would be no evil.
