  2. Erwin Vomberg, Music IS power. Music and entertainment now have more power and influence over young people than religion. Music is used as a tool for cultural change and control, and certainly has been abused, as seen by the cultural shift in our society over the past 50 years. Singers and celebrities are the new priesthood. Even Plato warned against new musical tastes being used to instill new ideas into the minds of the young. Religion did at least have a sound code of ethics, imploring people to increase in virtue, whereas the music industry is largely fuelled by money and fame.
