And your name is quite ironic.

It's almost like, Christians were right afterall.

"Theologian Thomas Aquinas explained that there are three types of biblical precepts: moral, ceremonial, and judicial. He holds that moral precepts are permanent, having held even before the Law was given, since they are part of the law of nature. Ceremonial precepts (the "ceremonial law", dealing with forms of worshipping God and with ritual cleanness) and judicial precepts (such as those in Exodus 21) came into existence only with the Law of Moses and were only temporary." Christians have already dealt with this issue like a thousand years ago, try reading more.

It's amazing how his fans completely miss the point of his lectures.

"My good intentions without works, my good promises without performance, have ruined me. I have said to God, tomorrow and tomorrow, till i am fallen into the night of death." - Henry Suso

No, because he's not offering a new philosophy. His legacy will be his ability to express the truth well to an audience, but he's not really saying anything that hasn't already been said by other people.

I've been dealing with anti-theists for a decade, such difficult people to reason with, glad you found your way out of the cave.

The whole purpose is to become your own star.

Christianity doesn't need to change, you do.

+Deaner Hockings - Reptilian Hunter, Reading the Bible at least once is a must for everyone, even if it's just to appreciate it's significance in western society. Enjoy it mate.

@Nick, People often ask why Christians didn't oppose slavery. The answer is that Christianity wasn't meant to be a revolutionary movement to change society, it was primarily about changing individual people, and yet by changing individual people; society eventually changed.
5
Many Christians believe Genesis to be metaphorical, not literal, therefore the story can be easily merged with new theories, because it's basically saying the exact same thing.

+Deaner Hockings - Reptilian Hunter, Looks like an interesting version, but it seems this version doesn't have chapter and verse numbering, but seems fine for a first read of the text.

No one takes anything seriously anymore, everything is reduced to a joke or a meme. It's a form of nihilism, in my opinion.

"Suffering changes an earthly man into a heavenly man" - Henry Suso

I agree with OT. My personal choice is the ESV or KJV.

Read The Book of Job, The Gospels, and The Consolation of Philosophy. Christians have never stated that you won't suffer, or that prayer will prevent or stop suffering, prayer is primarily about being strengthened to endure inevitable suffering. 1. Suffering is inevitable. 2. Prayer helps endure that suffering. 3. Therefore Christians 'save themselves', with the aid of prayer.
2
People need to watch the movie "The Game" from 1997, they even have a symbolic death and rebirth for the character, a very deep movie.

The first world war did great psychological damage to the Western mind.

Depends what you mean by 'Christian'.

It's already been intepreted in this way by many other people; religious and non-religious, this is just the first time you've heard it.

Which version did you buy?

+9th Legion, Many Christians accept the theory of evolution without it damaging their faith. And the vast majority of educated Christians do not take everything written in the Bible as absolutely literal, this is a common misconception. The Catholic church, and more so, the Orthodox church, have always been more liberal in the interpretation of Scripture. Only the 'sola scriptura' fundamentalists would disagree, however there are some areas agreed upon by all Christians. And if the Bible is simply a guideline for living well, then it's no more important than any other religious book. Christianity can then be easily discarded and replaced without any damage done to society......that's the hope anyway.

"We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed" - 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

The Catholic church is filled with such men, you just never hear about them.

+Nalis Solus, It's definately worth it. The movie reminded me of Dr. Peterson's lectures.

Not every western country has seperation of church and state, England being one.

We all have to follow the same path as Christian.

Many Peterson fans seem like they've never read a book in their lives.

Drugs are not real spirituality. Real spirituality is asceticism.
1
Saul did not burn an Acacia bush on the road to Damascus, where are you getting this stuff? And the only real requirement for attaining spiritual perfection is humility and unconditional love. Read the Desert Fathers, they reached spiritual perfection by simply living a holy ascetic life, not by smoking drugs. Many of these men were reported to have literally radiated with light in times of prayer. Saint Francis was known to have levitated. Some met with demons, others had wonderful visions of God. Allegro was dismissed because he was wrong. Although i will admit that true authentic Christianity is monastic, which is closer to Shamanism than modern day Christianism.
1
Interesting, perhaps asceticism produces DMT naturally without the aid of drugs, who knows. I've had numerous mystical experiences without drugs. And i don't believe Roman Christianity demonises meditation. I read mostly Catholic monastic writings and they have their own forms of meditation. Also, the recitation of the Jesus prayer is about clearing the mind of all thought.
1
Saint Anthony is well known to have actively faced demons head-on. Knowing that they had no power over him, the demons soon went away, knowing such a holy man was incapable of being enticed. The leviatation of Saint Francis was witnessed by others, as were the illuminations. I'm not saying you're wrong, i've never tried these drugs, all i know is that i've had unimaginable mystical experiences without the aid of drugs, i believe this is a more natural way of going about it. I still have a long way to go in fighting my demons, i see them too often these days.
1
I've heard of some people dying while taking ayahuasca, it this common? I'm not saying your method is wrong, only that it can be achieved without drugs and that we know of many good examples of people fighting their demons through ascetic means: Fasting, Prayer, Humility, chastity, Charity, etc... Is this not more worthy of being noted? Popping pills and smoking a pipe is far easier than abstaining from sexual intercourse and fasting for two weeks. I mentioned Saint Anthony because he was famous for challenging and waring against the demons; people still view him with reverence, a living example for us to follow.

Sounds interesting, but my heart ain't so good nowerdays, if only it was 15years ago. I can only cite the desert fathers, but it's important to remember that the Fathers led a very harsh and strict ascetic life in the desert, i imagine their way of life is quite rare these days. I recommend reading the Sayings of the Desert Fathers, and especially those of Saint Anthony, and also about the life of Saint Francis. I wish you the best.

I believe in God.

This is why you need a Monarchy.

How so?

Interesting. But would you agree that he is equally putting the final nail in the coffin of new-atheism by doing so?

"Of all that breathes and crawls across the earth, our mother earth breeds nothing feebler than a man. So long as the gods grant him power, spring in his knees, he thinks he will never suffer affliction down the years. But then, when the happy gods bring on the long hard times, bear them he must, against his will, and steel his heart." - Odyssey, Homer

"The descent to the Underworld is easy. Night and day the gates of shadowy Death stand open wide, but to retrace your steps, to climb back to the upper air—there the struggle, there the labor lies.” Aeneid, Virgil

5:34 ? What was it they ate? Why the reaction?

Reminds me of G. K. Chesterton: "I am the man who with the utmost daring discovered what had been discovered before......I did try to be original; but I only succeeded in inventing all by myself an inferior copy of the existing traditions of civilized religion.....I did try to found a heresy of my own; and when I had put the last touches to it, I discovered that it was orthodoxy." - G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy.
