And 21st century politics is in a mess because of a lack of virtue and adherence to the transcendent. I'd rather my politician adhere to virtue and truth, than ideology and wealth.   16. I used to make sure not to touch my face when at the shop, but now that i'm forced to wear a mask i have to put my hand close to my face frequently. Masks spread the virus.

  24.  @lyndonbauer1703  I never conflated religious belief with virtue, nor did i ever say that non-religious people cannot be virtuous. The spiritual path is primarily about increasing virtue and being the best you can be, thereby ensuring honesty and openness, something which we would like from our politicians. And yeah, some religious people use it for violence, but most do not. Just like some atheists are murderous communists, but most are not. We can all find exceptions.

Any 'religion' which condones slavery and violence is an ideological and political movement in addition to, or disguised in, religion. But none of these things has anything to do with someone's own inner journey to God, therefore it's irrelevant. And i'd like to see the evidence for Christianity condoning slavery and violence. Islam maybe, but not Christianity. And for every negative action done by the Church, i can give you ten positive. Hypocrites and charlatans exist within every institution, but if the institution preaches peace and unity, then it's the individual at fault, not the organisation. So you base your voting habits on what a political candidate believes or disbelieves regarding God and the afterlife? So you wouldn't have voted for Tolkien or C. S. Lewis for a political position, but you would have voted for Karl Marx and Stalin? Interesting. Belief or disbelief in the afterlife does not determine intelligence or personal character.  "Violence is inherit in the doctrines of religious belief" Yeah, Jesus was a violent maniac, lol. "It's not the cause of all violence granted, but given that it is still very present and explicit why would you still advocate for its use?" Islam mate, ISLAM. You know this, so just say it.
