It's quite clever how it achieves digital scarcity and there is more incentive for actors on the network to be honest, as they get rewarded, whilst dishonest actors get punished, thus disincentivized. Truth is defined as consensus. At this point, you would need around half of the world's compute power to break Bitcoin network.

  4. p.s. It would make more sense for AMD and nvidia, who supply the mining computer hardware, to hold back GPU's and use them to control/own the Bitcoin and Ethereum networks.
