Richest man in world pivots into Bitcoin. Says it all really.

The only ppl making money from IPO are the shareholders prior to the IPO. It is their exit. So, no wonder Buffett and Munger have never bought an IPO.
17
@DinoBegic You are clueless, ignorant and deluded. Three traits of a criminal.
11
Mr Buffett, thank you for all your teaching and wisdom, it is greatly appreciated.
11
Trump did nothing about semi-conductor manufacturing and hoarding, as China holds world to ransom over chip manufacture.

A CEO who makes a tonne of money, has no idea what to do with it, takes it and invests in Berkshire Hath, now that's my kind of CEO.
6
No, monetary policy for rich people, is not applying stimulus to the economy when needed. Poor countries have no monetary policy. If the economy goes down, it is bad for rich ppl, but worse for poor ppl. QE and monetary policy is designed to keep the economy going.

There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity, shorting Tesla is just plain dumb, whatever happens to them. It's a full on dick move. But hey some ppl like dicks.
5
Tesla is a pecker company compared with the likes of VW, Ford, Daimler, Honda, Nissan, Renault etc. yet it is valued more than them. Either they are all undervalued or Tesla is over-valued. Something does not stack up.
5
YEah and it;s DruckDuck Dog SH*t
4
They speculated. They accumulated.
4
it's also how you treat someone with special needs. He is short tesla and long some nomark company, they be like WTF are you out of your freaking mind? Is he on drugs?
4
@climaxhubbard point noted, ppl are also silent at funerals where they pay their last respects to the dead.
4
...when you put all your eggs in one basket, then blame the eggs when they all break.
4
This guy seems very balanced in world of extremes.
3
I get that he likes GOOGL. But the user is not the customer. The user's data is the product and other businesses are the customer, looking to use that data to target their own customers.
3
This might be one mother of a short squeeze.
3
Why do I love Buffett so much? His reasoning, logic, explanation and turn of phrase. Exceptional.
2
This is one smart fellow. Why are we debating socialism v capitalism? We know how that movie ends. Since John Maynard Keynes et.al we have had a mixed system, the social-market. We thought that was case closed.
1
@ryanm1630 Sir, with respect. We are all Keynsians in a Foxhole. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtAeINU3FKM

For me, Panasonic is a better buy than Tesla at this point. Tesla is over-valued in relation to it's peers and the battery tech is where the big gains are to be had.
1
This seems different, companies are broadly in great shape financially, unlike in 2008. What do I know?
1
As with all conflicts, everyone frames themselves as the good guys, US and china are no exception. Both believe they have the correct model.

TLDW Hold Defensive Stocks
1
V bullish on Tesla. I get more bullish when I see ppl trying desperately to make a name for themselves by "shorting tesla" - so trendy you contrarian.
1
yeah, but actually azebaijan runs blackrock, secretly.
1
@yedeylp you can buy Boston Dyn through softbank holdings.
1
@faber3969 he bought it when that was already on the cards.
1
@archivey-h8e We were wrong before. What makes us sure we are right now?
1
I think DOdger will be the number 1 before too long.
1
@DC-yl4vc Elon is pumping it, so.....
1
@Neojhun China is taking Taiwan back under state control, and with it, the crown jewel, TSMC, only the biggest semi-conductor manufacturer in the world. They vowed to use a much force as necessary to retake Taiwan, (to take a monopoly over semi-conductor industry.)
1
@Neojhun It is interesting, you must have some special insights on this. You must find it interesting that Covid-19 came out of China in response to trade wars. Impeccable timing you might say. Please say more. Give us your analysis.
1
@Neojhun I feel like you are hiding something from us, you know more than you are letting on. Why are you doing this? You know too much.
1
@Neojhun Well done you are a good person, it is not true what they say.
1
So true about stocks that ppl do not get. If it is trading cheaper and nothing has changed within the business or market place, then buy more at a discount.

Short sellers tend to be in love with their opinion and speak aggressively, but generally add nothing to society except bad will, which is captivating for many who feel disenfranchised by "the system". They tend to be long, only on really crap companies or precious metals or mining stocks... They invest how poor ppl imagine rich ppl act.
1
If you think you missed the boat, there is always ETH. I think that could be worth more in the long run as it is the home of crypto derivatives exchanges, which can be lucrative in terms of trading volume.
1
It's all about the 13F

Nobody is saying Tesla is a bad company, we are saying the valuation as 2nd largest automaker, makes no sense, when they hardly produce anything, even if they produced 10 million vehicles, the valuation makes no sense, historically, since the PE ratio would be multiple hundreds, meaning your investing horizon for making your money back from Tesla is hundreds of years.
1
It makes sense when you think of |Tesla as a cult rather than an automaker. Cults have one exit strategy. The ring leader takes your cash and runs off with money to fund other projects.
1
$45k on Bitfinex, The chart looks like a short squeeze to the upside. Or big whales buying? Looks like weak hands were shaken out at around $33k.
1
Tesla: Makes world's fastest production cars and develops clean battery tech. Eisman: Short Tesla but go Long ...some nomark company you have never heard of. Internet: WTF? Are you out of your freaking mind?
1
Was that canned applause?

If you want a memory play, just buy Samsung stock
1
Yes it's a dick move. Probably not shorting though, just trying to act edgy.
1
Guy who just missed the biggest performing asset over last decade: "I don't want your crypto crap anyway." ----Sounds a lot like a spoiled child who didn't quite get the toy he wanted for xmas.
1
Wow, that anchor, wow.
1
@JRAT777 I appreciate they see themselves as a tech company. The thing is, having worked for many big car companies, they are stacked from top to bottom with technology, so not sure how you conclude that other car makers are somehow not tech companies. Regarding, needing Tesla IP, well that is just deluded. Tesla was not the first electric car company, it just popularised the idea. Don't get me wrong. I like Tesla, but let's be clear, they are a niche low volume luxury car. Panasonic on the battery side is the big play if you want my opinion.
