Can someone explain to me how AI truly isn't going to render Software Engineers obsolete? Unless society changes as a whole I guess? Will society get so advanced (quickly) that AI is a tool for Software Devs to work on things we don't even know about yet? Generally curious as a Computer Science major... about to graduate. The days of junior devs working on things that AI can do in seconds and more accurately are over. To me, I see it as Data Scientists/Machine Learning PhD's that will be paid handsomely for cutting edge tech, but that's brain smarts that very, very few could ever hope to achieve. I could see UI designers being the go to for the unique information that AI would need to build things that are aesthetically needed. Explain to me like I'm 5.

For sure, but the robots replacing the manual labor jobs will take FOREVER, as it'll be so expensive to implement. That's one thing people don't take into consideration. The digital space is easy to innovate as it doesn't take up physical resources. Most companies use 10+ year old equipment/tech (computers) for this reason. My job is finally putting another $25 Ram stick in the work pc's so they'll be at 16GBs (we're talking like 5+ years of begging for it). Especially banks... they still use DOS. @TheArachnoBot

Exactly, I'm not "dooming" like many people, but unless we halt automation... society and capitalism are going to seriously change. It's unimaginable at this time I suppose. @StabbyMcStabStab

This I totally understand. I plan on getting into upper management (sales/management background) after a few years in the industry as a developer... so hopefully I'll be safe. I'm not smart enough for the data scientist stuff. @TheMickydowling
