Only one problem, HAARP stopped being funded by the military in 2015, now it's exclusively under University of Alaska. And I guess DARPA fucked up with that whole internet thingie, letting that go open source and commercial. Especially given high profile breaches by foreign military powers of DoD networks - repeatedly. Although, during my last background check, I did comment to the OPM investigator that should my US clearance work not pan out, it should be simple now, due to the OPM breach, to get a Chinese security clearance. Said investigator didn't find that humorous at all...

@Starset1881 how is manufacturing a sensor a risk to one's life? Or do you consider someone assembling a car also endangering their own life for money, as car accidents are quite common?

I'm scratching my head, as there has not been an indication that a pressurized core split open and spewed irradiated steam. The core melted, the the reactor vessel remained intact with a puddle of corium at the bottom of the pressure vessel. Where "The China Syndrome" tells us it melted straight to China despite China not being an antipode and destroyed all life in Pennsylvania. Something quite disconcerting to me, as I currently live three miles upstream from TMI and am obviously dead or something. Or, the author was full of shit - having read the book and discussion on how breeder reactors simply explode in nuclear detonations (despite three breeder reactors that also melted down and entirely refrained from detonating). I do remember the entire mess quite well, was in physics class watching it all go down and discussing precisely what was going on, with some insiders feeding us information out of band. As bad as the handling of the LOCA event was, the response was a total goat screw, with PR having greater value than informing the leadership of the state and federal response, causing mass confusion and opening the door to so much hyperbole as to render any PR effort utterly meaningless. Meanwhile, no significant amount of fission daughter products was detected, despite hyperbolic claims to the contrary (hell, I'm still waiting to see a photograph of an alleged two headed whitetail deer...

Well, there are chemtrails - for specialized aircraft like the U-2 spyplane, which obscures their vapor trail from radar. About as harmful as punching tiny holes in the ionosphere, which is slightly less injurious to our ecosystem and atmosphere as a mosquito bite is.

Indication of power to the valve, if you're clarifying, ya gotta be clear. Got dinged on that myself on a fairly regular basis. We learned one hell of a lot in human factors engineering and a few other subfields, one takeaway being, don't put important indicators on the far side of the goddamned console. And some enhancement of checklist items and I'm flat out in love with checklists, it keeps me from missing a step when otherwise distracted by real world WTF moments. BTW, TMI is literally only a few miles downriver from me. Kind of miss its cooling plume, as it used to be quite a convenient landmark when navigating in the area. But, it was cheaper for the utility company to produce power by burning natural gas, so the reactor was shuttered early.

That's because they ceased the program and gave it to the University of Alaska in 2015. So yeah, the program is gone. Now, it's exclusively a university program, its utility for communications being explored and well, not quite as useful as lunar reflection, reflecting off of other satellites or just using our own satellites.

@SurfingBoulder don't know what country you live in, but we still have broadcast channels in Pennsyltucky. Get around Philly and there are even more channels. The same was true in NW Louisiana a few years ago and they've not lost channels since.
