Antony Stringfellow same basic circuitry, same basic neurotransmitters and neuromodulators, same basic infancy of understanding how all merge together to process information. One thing that held us back was the idiocy of considering a brain like a digital computer, as digital computers don't have modulators for the same processing element or different transmission mechanisms.

@Miles Bennett Dyson the brain isn't a binary "digital" computer at all. It's nested neural networks that are pattern recognition engines. Current AI can't even hold a candle to that and won't come even vaguely close for a long time to come.

@Miles Bennett Dyson show one binary circuit in any organic brain on the planet. Every neuron has neuromodulators that alter firing away from simple binary and into multiple state processing that's far more complex than our binary boolean logic operated computers.

Insanely oversimplified enough to not bring neuroscience forward at all, let alone how neural processing actually works. For one thing, there is no such thing as "neurons", as there are different types and subtypes, each with their own characteristics and processing abilities. Look at how many neurotransmitters there are, consider there are at least as many neuromodulators that change how conduction thresholds and processing occurs, both in firing rate, firing density, firing at all, etc. This is essentially walking into a telephone central exchange office and randomly tossing a few wires together and calling it operational.
