  1. Wow, such hyperbole over a whopping 0.85 lbs of Pu-238 per 30 watt SNAP-19 radiothermal generator. Sealed within a container designed to survive uncontrolled atmospheric reentry without losing integrity and what was shown reliable with the Apollo-13 module reentry with zero leakage. Let's see, 30 watts ain't gonna melt a glacier appreciably, at all. 0.85 lbs of Pu-238 isn't going contaminate with alpha radiation much of anything at all and it's in a form that's not biologically available. Hell, the granite mountain has more uranium released in water runoff than what could come from an RTG! Still, I've always been big on packing out my trash, pity that they didn't bother doing the same.
