America is a pair of continents. The United States of America is a Republic, not a pure democracy. Do learn about political systems and geography. Our republic is a representative democracy, where representatives are elected to represent our views. A pure democracy doesn't work well in an emergency, as an example, Athens was still debating raising an army while being invaded and citizens took it upon themselves to defend the state and ended up exiled for their trouble.
