I'd love to see the exciter and coil drive wavefoms. I'm willing to bet the waveform shows some complex patterns that could increase efficiency in some modes.

From what I've read, Tesla seems to have settled with six pole synchronous reluctance motors. That makes sense, as it's a far more efficient motor than any PM motor would be. If I were to hazard a guess, the frequency of the coil drivers would range in the 230 - 400 hz range. As for finding out if both front and rear are both continuously used, a quick and ugly quickie test would easily tell. A couple of turns snoop coil around one of the AC lines would tell the tale. Might get a trace from high current pulses in the HVDC line feeding the module, but a Hall sensor wold likely perform better. I'll remain not a fan of thin tires and utterly not a fan of multiple tire sizes on a singular vehicle. Low tolerance for large obstructions for the former, logistics and Murphy's law for the latter and honestly, I've found that Murphy was an optimist.
