  2. Horrible childhood experiences with wool have kept me away from the stuff, and it'll probably stay that way for the rest of my life. I know, I know, we have much better wool now than we did in the 50s, but I'm fine without it.

  3. "...wool keeps you cool, even when it's warm. Mainly because of their wicking..." But in arid climates (where I spend most of my time) you want sort of the opposite. Damp clothing works like a swamp cooler when it's single-digit humidity.

For 11 years I've been trying to find the best balance between having enough clothes and bedding to prolong laundry (and to satisfy my desire for variety), and having enough space for other things. I think I have it worked out now. Maybe. Oh, and I keep my dirty things in a former scuba gear duffle with mesh panels (for drainage of wet gear). The ventilation seems to keep the clothes from fermenting like they would in a solid bag.
