The US contribution to NATO is equivalent to almost double to the rest of the EU members. So basically Trump was right that the US basically carries NATO's alliance.

@ming9625 you seconded to an opinion without facts from paid trolls. Here's the thing, there are 31 countries in the alliance and only 5 are within 2%GDP spending and US contributed a whooping almost 4% double than required. NATO's source of funding is based on 2% guidelines as agreed in sharing-contribution as a whole. That's the essence.

@SOV3r3IGN That's defense expenditures of a country. What actually NATO spent is in another table in terms of real contribution which the US tops $811B (3.7%GPD). UK is distant second $73B (2.25%).

@terryfeusner3089 All Allies contribute to funding NATO using an agreed cost share formula derived from the Gross National Income of member countries. This is the principle of common funding and it demonstrates burden-sharing in action. Now you should know why Trump has been pushing for it while those corrupt politicians don't care and they care only what they earn as career employees of the states.
