It's constant turmoil and war throughout the 5000 history of China, The people had been killing each by invading kingdoms to establish a dynasty. So the territory of dynasties had been keep changing and the desires of rulers were selfish interests to enrich themselves and one way was exploration and trade reaching southeast asia but no interest in colonizing because they want their military warriors to remain defensive.

After WWII and full independence, the country was in a better position to be a leader in economic development while other countries were still fighting internal wars. Yet 80 years, the country is still poor. Vietnam even surpassed the economy with a higher GDP. The 2025 forecast, the country is no.6 only a step ahead of Myanmar and Laos. That is not good. It's evident when visiting the countryside that many people are still living the same undeveloped standards as decades ago.

The strongest dynasty was first by Yuan from Mongolia and the biggest territory was ruled by Qing from Manchuria. After the Qing, part of Chinese were under the Japanese rule. The current dream of expansionism is by the communist rulers who ruled the people tighty by restrictions and brainwashing.
