American citizenship was granted without voting rights on federal elections because it's not a state but has an autonomous commonwealth government. The US President has no direct control of the Puerto Rico as the sovereign authority is from the US congress.

@deanaislas9828 Puerto Rico is not a state but a commonwealth. The sovereign authority of PR is solely from the US congress not the US federal president. That is the law. Puerto Ricans are grateful for Trump's help specially the signing of $20M disaster relief fund and other things beyond his capacity as President.

@gothgirlglam2486 Your comments twisted the facts. Trump said not real Americans referring to PR status which limits the island's full political, economic, and social development. Trump together with the PR governor, FEMA and other agencies inspected the damage. His assessment was based on visual damage and data fed to him. There were immediately efforts including rescue operations, etc. The fatality toll and level of devastation at the time of inspection were far less than the effect Katrina.

@nd9814 The comedian's joke about floating garbage was actually referring to the literal 'garbage' of dump landfills around the island which has been an environmental crises for years until now. The media and politicians on the other side are twisting it to appear hatred among the people instead of bringing environmental awareness to solve the garbage problem of the Puerto Rican residents there.

@Violet-Storm The president can delegate his duties to the VP. And Biden did that in 2021 assigning Kamala as border czar and foreign policies. But Kamala's failure resulted in border crisis and world wars. Kamala has no negotiating skill and lack of leadership. She is just expert in jailing people who she didn't like.
