Actually, it is nothing new . Considering whole National-Socialist movement, there were people among them who were more national, and those who were more social. Hitler as a leader was more national, but lots of early members were more interested in social justice. Rohm, on his part, was neither. There is evidence that he was mentally ill, perhaps caused by wound in WW1, and this would explain his alcoholism, homosexuality, aggressiveness and other deviations of his character. In any case, he became an obstacle for Hitler, so he was removed..
