Stalin was very cold and calculated. He did what was best for him, rarely acting out of emotions. In this case, using German generals as pawns, to entice others to surrender.

US Army (and armed forces in general) committed numerous war crimes. What is lawful, especially during the war, of often a moot point.

@jangelbrich7056 No, it is not 😁 There are two undeniable facts: 1. humans are mortal 2. humans cannot achieve much working alone. Humans have to live in society in order not to waste energy on fighting nature and fighting among themselves. Thus, society is more valuable than individual - without society individual would likely die anyway. Societies are not perfect (far from it), but is not unreasonable to ask from a member to risk his life for society. Of course, this had to be done in a fair manner. Third Reich was reasonable fair, even Fuhrer commited suicide when it was his term.

@clownpendotfart True . Germans declared Vernichtungskrieg in the East, i.e. war of annihilation. What is important, all German generals were ok with that, including Paulus.

Hitler did not want unthinking slaves. He simply stated that men in his age were thinking too much, and acting too little. Same could be said of men in Western civilization today. Indeed, many are noticing that things are not as they should be, but they do practically nothing to change them.

I no longer want to play this game 😂🤣 Your imaginary army would break up under first artillery barrage.

War in the East was Vernichtungskrieg, war of annihilation. Germans declared that themselves.

@patrickfrei9322 That is not who it works, buddy. You are either part of society or you are not. If you are, you have certain obligations. If you are not, then society would not protect you. This means that anyone could literary kill you without repercussion.

@z3r0_35 People who consider themselves evil rarely go to the red zone (in automotive terms). They usually have instinct of self preservation. Hitler and many around him had strong convictions, and they were willing to sacrifice themselves for it.

@z3r0_35 Well, true. But such individuals are rarely successful in achieving social status. In other words, they would not become German Chancellor 😁
