  2.  @OpalBLeigh  Unburied bodies and starving human beings were everywhere. Winter/spring of 1945 was especially harsh in German held areas. Not enough food and typhus spreading around. Most inmates in Bergen Belsen and other Western camps died from it, but disease was not limited to them.

  3. He could not talk about it because he did not see much. Extermination camps were in the East. In the West, camps like Bergen Belsen were for Jews that supposed to be exchanged with Allies.

  9. Actually, Russian Empire was among most tolerant to the Jews, and that is why they had so many of them. In the end, this was their fatal flow. There is a Russian proverb :"Don't help the Jew, don't expect harm from him". Russians finally learned that in late 20th century.

  10.  @untruelie2640  They did not kill nowhere near 1 million before 1942. It was more like 100 000, max 200 000. Biggest massacre was at Babi Yar, less than 35 000.
