Had the Germans weakened Army Group A to strengthen Army Group B, they would definitely kiss the oil goodbye (main objective of the campaign) , plus they would have Transcaucasian front aiming for Rostov. Army Group A as it was could not move further, and in weakened state it would have to withdraw with uncertain logistic.
