  1. It is interesting how mighty conquerors suddenly became so humble and religious when their own demise came near. Worth to mention that they actually did left many Soviet women and children in exactly that state of starving and huddling in the cold, before the fate struck them back.

  2.  @SanarySeggnete  Well, in real life this raid was not so dramatic (i.e. Germans did have about half a day time to retreat) , so I suppose that all the goods were flown out or destroyed before Soviets reached the airfield. Although TIK idea of not enough goods reaching airfields should be taken into consideration.

  3.  @SanarySeggnete  Truth is usually in the middle, i.e. Soviets destroyed all aircraft not in flying condition (and few that were). This was likely a third of total number.

  4. TIK's idea of not enough goods reaching airfields is interesting but there are some things going against it. First, if not enough supplies were reaching front airfields, but there was enough goods at rear airfields, why not make two legged trip to Stalingrad ? Or simply fly directly from rear airfields, as Ju-52 did have enough range (although with reduced capacity) . Second, Germans at Tatsinskaya did have at least 6 hours warning that Soviets are coming, still they managed to lose one quarter of the planes on airfield (some sources mention one third or even half). German pilots were willing to flee even with half-operational planes, yet they could not do so. Be aware that flying once into rear is far less dangerous than flying over enemy controlled territory day and day again. Finally, if there was not enough goods at airfields, why did not anyone mentioned this so far . No mayor player would be hurt by this (Hitler, Manstein, Goering ...) . It would simply be a fact that would have to be addressed in a manner mentioned before.
