@mattmoloch1212 Well, let me put it like this. If you were some Russian peasant, under the communists you could still hope to climb Party or Army ladders and become a general (like let´s say Vasily Chuikov) . Under the Germans that same peasant would be happy if he was left alive in his village. That does not mean that communist were any good (they were not), but at least they did not attempt to eradicate whole population. Even if you put victims of the communists at 10 million (high number) , this is still less then official 27 million (unofficially much more) in WW2 in only 4 years. Same goes for Warsaw pact countries. Soviets were bad, but did not try to eradicate let's say Poles. In fact, Poland was a country under Soviets, had its own government, language, army etc... Under the Germans, all of that did not exist and in fact millions of Poles died. Over all, those that choose to fight for the German selected GRATER EVIL and they were punished for that.
