Hey Aaron, I officially "liked" this video. Your point about growth mindset jumped out at me. Focus on how you are improving, not on how much you already know. The hard part I find is doing this down at a weekly or daily basis. I've been self teaching myself programming since 1996. It took me 20 years before I started a project for myself that has actually been something tangible that I use all the time now. Now I really just struggle to find enough time to sit down and learn more each day. Anyway, enough rambling and thanks for the video! I find your content very relevant to my situation or mindset.
PS: I also did tutorial treadmill for years (decades?) and always found that I'd get to point where I felt I just wasn't "getting it" or that the tutorial was just telling me something I already knew. I found I really had to sit down and just start a project and literally try things, get errors, look up reference docs, read them over and over, change code, fix errors, repeat. Eventually I learned concepts that I feel are far more relevant to programming than what the tutorials teach by default. Tutorials seem to teach mostly semantics and syntax. I feel like there needs to be more beginner tutorials that talk about how event driven programs work, how to imagine what an event is, what a handler is etc. When you understand those things, it makes creating a modern program a lot easier.
