  3. One does not need to have a bond with their abuser. The feeling that is associated with Stockholm syndrome comes from a need for survival. Not from a place of love. This happens to kidnap victims as well. It's the brains way of making sure the body survives a near death situation. Its to placate the attacker or abuser into being less harsh.
