  1. My ‘57 Bug was a reliable vehicle, with some limitations. The fan powered cooling system for the engine was woefully inadequate, and was the root cause of most of the limits. The engine was allowed to produce only about 1/4 of a horsepower per cubic inch of displacement. The easy average was twice that! But, the weak cooling system simply couldn’t cool that much heat. So, the air intake system to the carburetor was deliberately choked down. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
