Is this the male privilege I'm always hearing about?

Lemme guess... the judge was a woman?

They would be able to test it, I imagine. I wonder if they did. The fact that the lawyers didn't bring it up makes me think that it wasn't.

@Strange-diggs723 I'm not justifying it. Just that it can trigger psychosis in certain people that are already predisposed to it. Like the straw breaking the camels back. But from what I understand, it's not a temporary condition when that happens. I'm certainly not trying to imply that she isn't guilty and deserving of much, much harsher punishment. It's more common with psychedelics, though.

Or has never smoked before and her first time resulted in psychosis. Very, very doubtful though.

@ugk26 but when that happens, it isn't a temporary thing. It's a permanent switch, or at least very long term. It doesn't dissipate when it wears off.

I've heard it can trigger psychosis in certain people that are already predisposed to it. But I've never experienced that happen. And I don't think the psychosis is temporary when that happens. More like the straw breaking the camels back, kind of thing.

@FreedomAtRisk maybe. The human brain is a bizzare thing. I would guess she was already on the cusp of a mental break, if it actually was one. Or she was just a good actress, but in that case, the motivation isn't clear.

@Strange-diggs723 alcohol can also trigger psychosis in some people. Especially when already on certain meds. not saying that is an excuse. That is a terrifying precedent. And we're talking about a small percentage of the population that is susceptible to such a thing. I don't know if you have ever been around someone with paranoid delusions or schizophrenia, but it's not fun. And if it actually happened to this woman, it wouldn't be something that just went away the next day.
