  1. Because the books are bought in bulk, and it doesn't even matter if the dont sell in the retail market, because the book stores have already bought them. Then the bookstores sit on the inventory and eventually dump it... but they get a kick back somewhere.

  2. Ive always suspected 'book deals' were just bribe laundering. They get large retailers to buy thousands of them, and then they get paid whether the books sell or not. Then the retailers get some type of kick back or something. Like Bernie... apparently his book sold like crazy, but Ive never seen one in the wild. Always wondered if that was part of his DNC deal to back Hillary.
