  1. It's just a filler word. It comes from a lack of adjectives in their vocabulary. Reading books helps with that, which is no longer a cool thing to do.

  3. Public speaking fear. High schools teaches you to not say 'um' or 'uhh' but forget to teach you not to use other filler words like 'like'. The key is speaking slower. Adrenaline makes you speak more quickly than you realize.
