I've always suspected that he wasn't actually aware that his two 20s were counterfeit. Most fentanyl comes from China through Mexico, and the counterfeit currency does the same. My guess, he gave a c note for 60 worth and got two fake 20s in change. Everything coming from China. He became irate once he realized he had been ripped off, and made the two clerks the subject of his anger which justified (in his mind) the original petty theft that kicked this whole thing off. Then he tried to eat the evidence like he did the precious year, only this time the paramedics didn't arrive in time. If I remember correctly, they were delayed a few minutes by illegal BLM protests... which might be the most ironic piece of the whole story.
