@crazyralph6386 what? Our tax dollars are paying for their restaurant visits? And they still won't tip?... wow.

@tacticalmattfoley black people are more likely to lease new luxury cars they can't afford. Not sure why. White people are more likely to buy used, practical cars. (More likely, not all) I remember seeing a study on this actually, and it's a big factor on the intergenerational wealth accumulation they are also complaining about. I've seen people on food stamps with 450 dollar shoes. They use the tax money from people driving accords and wearing cheap shoes to buy food and housing while they lease luxury cars and buy absurdly expensive shoes as status symbols. Being a literal charity case doesn't bother them at all, though. No shame, just 'status'.

@the1only467 they drive them, but they don't own them. They lease them, for a huge lose. Then complain about not having money. Or they're using money they got in a way they can't spend it all at once, if you get my meaning. Car maintenance is also an issue. I knew one girl who didn't have a single functional break light. Wasnt a relay failure, all three burnt out one after the other over months. When she got pulled over, she told everyone the cop was prejudiced, even though she got a freakin warning....

@barbarat5729 why are these things not true? Not saying they are true, but you seem so confident in their untruth that I assume you know for sure.

I've been to restaurants that ask for a card if you order any alcohol at all, just like a bar.

@pdpgb if that's how you feel, then only go to businesses that operate that way. What you shouldn't do it go to one that works on tips and then refuse to tip. I'm going to guess you've never worked in a restaurant... it's also about incentives. If you were getting paid the same no matter the quality of your service, you would probably stop working so hard. I've noticed a very different attitude in other countries that don't operate on tips, and that fine if they want to do it that way. But that doesn't mean you can demand a business operate the way you want.

I imagine it would be a regionally necessary tactic. Like locking up every item in a Walgreens.

I hear Neil and Buzz still owe about 60 bucks at that bar at the end of the universe.
7
The most ridiculous thing, you could buy a grill, make all that yourself, buy all of the booze for the drinks and still have money left over for the price they (should have) paid. They're just not too bright all around.

23 bucks for a kids popcorn shrimp? Thats why you check the menu before you go somewhere new... Although iI cant see the right side, so maybe it was multiple orders. But the other items are identical and separate, so who knows. Also, 16 bucks for an 'ultimate rita"... these people knew what they were doing. They were never planning on paying and just used the large party auto-tip as an excuse.
4
I did that once, kind of. I went for a smoke and left my share in cash on the table. But the other guys thought I paid it. I didn't realize we walked on like 2/3 of the tab until I got their venmo... went back the next day to settle up and gave em a good tip. We would go there a lot, so it wasn't that big of a deal.

@pdpgb the alternative is just including the 'fair wage' amount into the price of the food, meaning your still paying the same as if you were to tip 20%. The difference is just that the terrible waiters make as much as the great ones. And it's not "due to corruption". If it was, McDonalds would be demanding tips. And the reason you don't tip your doctor or mechanics is because it's not a service/hospitality industry. If you don't like it, don't go to them. Or better yet, open up one in your image and see how well it does. Who knows, you could break the whole system.

@danielbyrne5402 I meant only putting auto-tips on parties of 20 or more is generous. Splitting the bill doesn't change the size of your party though.
3
@pdpgb cashiers normally don't get tips... its waiters and bartenders and they often share tips with the other staff. And yeah, if your service is awful, you tip less. Although if you've worked in those jobs, you normally understand the pressure of a busy night and cut them some slack. Even when I'm traveling to central American counties, I get better service just for wearing a hat with Texas on it, as we're infamous for tipping well even when it's not expected. I'll say it again, if you don't want to tip, just avoid the restaurants that run slim margins and work on tips and go to the non-corrupt places like Burger King and Dairy Queen.

@meddlingmage23 if a parent is feeding an obese kid cake, I assume they really don't like their kid or have some munchousin by proxy or something. Maybe it's a way for obese parents to pass on their own failings to their children, out of spite or something. Or maybe they're just weak people who would sacrifice their child's future to avoid having to actually parent for a minute or two.
2
@dftfire that's how most BBQ joints work. Well, you would give the tip while paying, after ordering.
2
@tberman2386 Yes. They don't expect tips. Therefore, I assume you would consider them non-corrupted.

Most places will autu-tip for parties over like 6 or 7. 20 is pretty generous.
1
@danielbyrne5402 oh. Haha. Nevermind then.
