  2. The USA seems stuck in a world view based upon WWII war films – war in Pacific, superior technology, certainty of winning, huge but acceptable casualties. The GIs win out as they always do. Planning for the last war. A comforting, dangerous delusion.

  3. Lord Dannat - a question - if Putin goes, why do you expect a new leader that is less hawkish than Putin? Why? - the generals I 'm aware of are much more warlike than Putin. Seems you have hopeful fantasies nested inside other hopeful fantasies.
