  2. Speaking of sanctions – when the US embargo on Cuban cane sugar came in, the USA switched totally to high fructose corn syrup. Not a good sweetener, metabolized differently from straight sucrose, hard on the liver, cheap though. It’s in everything now and vested interests want to keep it that way. Given the trends in death stats in the States due to diabetes, heart attacks, and other obesity related diseases - hey! Maybe Castro won!
