@ The Maori are not Australian; they are Polynesians who claim and are afforded many special privileges based on their supposed indigenousness. The OP was correct in his assertion.

BTW, children of indigineous [sic] people from Papua and Australia are often lighter skinned and blond just like children of Europeans… Incorrect. What may appear "just like" the same to you, is entirely different.

@Taonga2u Which part of my comment have you mistaken for me thinking that Captain Cook should be considered indigenous to NZ? I employ several Samoans and they do not have any reading comprehension issues, so this is on you as an individual.
