Some of New Spain territories became Mexico in 1821. Mexico was never a nation until the 19th century, part of New Spain until then and claimed California and SW after independence, Spain had dropped the European blood after 1519 in the continent, today's Mexico, Pacific Coast to Canada, California to Florida, parts of New Spain, different peoples. Spain also bred with the indigenous far more than the English or French, from today's USA to South America. Spains caste system was Peninsulares, crillos, mestizo, indio, mulatto. There was no Mexican classification until 1824. Mexican is a citizenship, not a race. Mexico as part of the America's is a melting pot of peoples and cultures from all over the world. The USA became a nation 1776 out of English colonies , Mexico became a nation 1821 out of Spains territories. California and the SW were under Mexico's governance for only 25 years to become US American after 1848, and these states are not historically Mexico. Folks from Louisiana and Mississippi areas are of Spain, France, Africa heritage and Floridians historically are from Spain/Cuba. Many people's, mixed. Many cultures and skin colores. But for 3 centuries Spain did not conquer the California and SW Indians who were not mestizo as they generally did not mix with the Spanish. Spanish Colonial Tejanos were from the Canary Islands and Louisiana. Mexican citizens migrated mostly after 1880s to USA border areas along with Americans to establish border towns....
