  4.  @JayTide  He declared war on the US. The US was going to build the largest Navy and Airforce in the world no matter how Russia turned out . The US would have finished the Manhattan Project and B-29s from England would have ended Germany in 1945, even if Germany was doing ok .

  9. If the US was alone they had a much larger population ,and 4Xs the manufacturing capacity of Germany. The Willow Run plant built a large 4 engine B-24 every hour. Quicker than Germany could build a small single seat/engine fighter plane.

  30. Fun fact Even if the US lost all its ships at midway and Japan lost non , the US was building the largest navy in the world in 16 months anyways. That war was decided before Japan reach Pearl Harbour.

  47. Stalin and communist USSR were never our friends. I think D-Day was held off until 1944 to let Germany and Russia bleed each other out for as long as possible. Why send troops into their mess. Turned out to be correct. The US and Britain lost 500,000 each in the war, The Germans lost 5 million and Russia 10 million soldiers.

  71. The rest of the Eastern Europe countries lost their independence from 1945 until 1990, so Finland did not fight for nothing . It's a win when a super power negotiates to stop a war with a smaller country right next door .

Ask any South Korean if they were happy the US threw the North Korean invasion back out of South Korea today. Ask a Vietnamese if they are happy under their communist government . I just got back from Cuba and I can tell you those people sure are not happy.

  83. late in the was they had the "Pershing" with the 90mm gun in production and sent some to Europe. But they were heavier to transport and off load on France makeshift ports. They also were to heavy for many bridges , so the stayed with the Sherman. The US had the M-10 with a 90mm that was supposed to do the tank destroying work.
