  2. So many docs with (It was the best plane of ww2) heard the same about the B-17 ,B24,B-29. Same with fighters , the best was the Spitfire,Mustang, HellCat,Corsair, Thunderbolt, Fw-190 and on and on.

  6. If Dresden was such a important railway hub why was it not heavily bombed like all the other German cities thought the war but only just two months before the war's end? Why would the Russian that waa unstoppable force almost at Berlin want a city that will be in their sector want a Bombed out rubble city rather than a intact functioning city?

  8. Dresden was not hindsight. Why was it not bombed before almost the close of the war like all the other German cities if it was all of a sudden a important target? Also it was not hindsight that late in the war that Germany was defeated and the Russians were close to Berlin and continuing to bomb cities was not changing that one way or another at that late stage.

  11. The B24 could fly further and higher than any other 4 engine bomber beside the late comer B-29. The land caster was the best handling it could be flown for hundreds of miles at tree top levels if need be. Best bomber for those Dam busting raids for sure.

  13. Being only lightly bombed a few times in 1944 sure does not make it sound like it was a important military target. The rest of the German cities where heavily bombed from early 1943 right through till the end.

  14. When Dresden was bombed 2 months before the war ended the Russians were well on there dash to Berlin , Dresden being bombed or not did not change that fact in anyway. It was bombed because Harris had no other cities not already in rubble to bomb.

  15. I live in the States. Navy-less Germany was not sailing over to invaded North America . The US had twice Germanys population and 4 times it's manufacturing capacity and resources and a 4 year monopoly on the A-Bomb. The US could beat 2 Germany's. I think my freedom was not threaten by far away little Germany,

  16. Look at these war production charts. http://www.combinedfleet.com/economic.htm The US was in a league of its own. The Germans were well behind in making a bomb and all their good scientist fled Germany before the war.

  22. You would think bombing at night was safer than daylight bombing,. It was the whole reason Britain's stopped daylight bombing and left that to the Americains. Red Army running mine clearers would be up there.
