  2. Dresden was more cruel because it was never bombed during the war because it was of little military value. Also the war was almost over with Russia closing in on Berlin, so bombing cities no longer mattered. It is said Dresden was bombed to show Russia the Allies bombing might , because Dresden was agree to be in Russia controlled Germany at the end of the war.

  11. It why I skipped Germany on my European trip. I wanted historical buildings to see not replicas. Could you imagine the Roman Colosseum being bombed to the ground and replaced . Would you want to see a replica that looked alot like it? When you put your hand on the wall of the Colosseum, you know a Roman citizen at a gladiator fight may have touched the same spot.

  15. Happened a lot, More common was gunner hitting friendly bomber when they got into a machine gun craze. Imagine your shooting at a enemy fighter and that fighter flies between you and a friendly bomber in your formation. It Happened a lot.

Stalin our Ally and a clone twin of Hitler , took over the governments in Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, East Germany, Poland, Romania and Yugoslavia. The Baltic countries—Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania—were made into republics. Even Finland was partly controlled by the Soviets. Hitler or Stalin ,was there a difference really?

D-Day was held off on purpose so Germany and Russia could bleed each other white for as long as possible. That's why the US and UK lost 500,000 soldiers not 11 million like the Russians and 5 million like the Germans. B-29s/A-Bombs from England would have ended Germany in 1945 0r 1946 no matter what the Russians did or did not do. Germany was a small country of only 70 million they were never going to out produce the US let alone the US and UK. B29s with A-Bombs do not care how many German soldiers are trapped in Europe.

  29.  @scottabc72  Another thing that amazed me was if a factory was bombed they got it up and running again. I work in a very large Steel plant in Canada, I seen a broke crane or seized roller shut down a entire mill for 10 hours. I can't imagine 500 lb bombs coming through the Mill roofs and exploding and seeing it repaired in years let along days.

  30. You do know the US could out produce both Germany and Japan combined by a large margin.. North America was never in danger in the slightest. The US was building that largest Navy and Airforce in the world no matter how Europe worked out.

  32. They have a audio conversation between Hitler and Mannerheim , where Hitler said he would not have invaded if he knew the Russians had 20,000 tank. (Look it up). It's easy to find now but hid because Hitler sound to rational in it. German intel was awful in WW2.

  38. For me its about survival. France surrendered and was occupied for 4 years and lost 250,000 people. The US lost 550,000 and lived 4000 miles away. France made out great.

  43.  @lycaonpictus9662  Fact remains after Hitler declared war on the US on Dec 8 1941 a small country like Germany was never winning the numbers game fighting the UK/Commonwealth ,The USSR and United States at the same time. Even with Russia knocked out of the war Germany would be outnumbered just like it was in WW1 when Russia withdrew from the war. Just occupying Russia would take too many troops away.

  49. What I don't get is did people really think Germany a small county of 70 million was going to take over the world? These said the Germans needed 57 divisions to occupy a defeated USSR. Norway. needed 400,000 Germans to police it . How were they going to also occupy North America , Europe, the UK and the USSR ? Canada and the US had 150 million people together.
