Now it's just waiting for any program that utilizes more cores. I have not run into anything yet that my old i5 four core can not handle with a GTX 580.
11
@bakednerd True the software now has to catch up to the hardware. My 7 year old i5 plays Crysis 3 without a stumble.
6
@nadirjofas3140 True but it is still on the 2019 top list of most hardware demanding games. https://geekculture.co/9-graphically-intensive-games-that-will-push-your-desktop-to-its-limits-in-2019/
6
@Bonswally Because the 6 year old game is still on the top 2019 top 5 list of Graphic demanding games today. Don't blame me because graphics has been at a stand still.
6
I have a 900 GB for the last 7 years and it's at 70% free space. How much do you need?
4
@BlownMacTruck Just saying things have slowed down. A PC and Video card never lasted me 2 years, now you just go through life with a 9 year old i5 3.2 and GTX-580 and buy the newest games without looking at the system requirement anymore. I can afford any PC I want but that WOW factor difference from the old days when I upgrade is not there anymore.
3
@rowger8927 A PS4 plays Red Dead 2. My GTX-580 cost more than my PS4 did when they were both new.
2
They do not have the Megahertz war with CPU anymore remember those days?
2
@E-virtuosEu PS4 are 900 mhz and play witcher 3 so how much do you really need. My 7 year old i5 plays Crysis 3 no problem. Time for the software to catch up with hardware now.
1
@Bonswally I used to upgrade my Vid cards every 18 months now my 7 year old GTX-580 still does the job.
1
I play Crysis 3 at 65 FBS with a 7 year old i5 . The software can not keep up with the hardware now.
1
@justiny.1773 My 1.5GB GTX-580 is 8 years old , I remember the days when I bought a vid card and was lucky it could last 2 years before the new games killed it. Today hardware last much longer.
1
@justiny.1773 I play Red dead 2 on a PS4.
1
A laptop could cost as much as a car back then. Not sure why battery life matters unless you use in in a tent on a camping trip. Where is there not a wall plug in near by?
1
Same with video cards my 9 year old GTX 580 Video card runs any new game. I use to upgrade Video cards every two years .
1
@UmVtCg What video card does a phone have? Like I said still waiting for that Game a 3.2 GHZ i5 with a GTX-580 can not play.
1
There was 3000 MHZ in 2003 (17 years ago) now it a core architecture thing.
1
Still can not play Crysis 3 at full detail at 60fps. The PC towers is still hear to stay.
1
But the year was almost up , I think the P2-450 was tops in most of 1999.
1
@clobbyhardy Not as fun now, . Before a upgrade was a noticeable difference and I keep up every year. Now my 7 year old i5 does not stumble on and thing I use.
1
Per wikipedia 733 MHz (0.18 μm process, 256 KB L2 cache) introduced October 25, 1999. The year was almost done , the P2-450 was tops in most of 1999.
1
@nadirjofas3140 New years eve of 1999.
1
@nadirjofas3140 Fair to call it a 2000 CPU not a 1999 CPU? Since 98% of the year of 1999 has past.
1
Thats 5 grand in 1989. Today that would be like 8 grand.
1
@BrianEssersGarage I never download a movie and keep it. I live stream or download with a delete afterwards. The Sites I,m on you can watch them any time again if you wish.
1
They guy was close, 10 years later in 1999 the PII-450 MHZ was top dog.
1
@nadirjofas3140 The Intel Pentium III 800 was Launched in Dec 20 1999. (might as well call it a 2000 CPU.) But Yes the P3 -550 was out in 1999.
